Back to business.
Flywheel and clutch thingys on, connection with the mighty 186 and lunch. Linkages will have to come off for install but needed to adjust them up a bit today.
Waiting to do steering column stuff next and then, in it goes. Hopefully next week sometime.
Thanks Neil.
Steering started today. Reconditioned my nice shiny box with new Rares kit and then cut my brand new shaft up and mounted torrie cloth drive thingy. Next job is to make firewall bracket ( engineer insists on 3mm thick) and then make either original torrie breakaway bracket match to EK pedal box, or weld a bit on to outer column and mount a purchased 2 point breakaway on original dashmount. Whatever is safest and practical.
Also, column is for auto, so have to get rid of those bits.
There is a felt seal in there at the moment Blacky. If that isnt enough I'll machine out a bit of the housing and use a single lipped seal. Should be ok though. Best part of this is I can drop the box out without all the hoo ha of taking out the column and vice versa.
Rag joint will help take any vibration out of the steering wheel - at the expense of a little bit of feel. Its not a race car so I reckon its a better solution.
I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

I like your approch Brett. Bucking the "trend" to r&p. Rag joint. Torana
mod boys ditch them for a solid, would it be rose joint?

Engineer was adamant that geometry would not work with r&p on HR front. I had the r&p there and he saw it and said no - better off using the original box if you can tidy it up. His will is my command
Enjoyable morning. A little bit of lathe work to convert an FB steering column top bearing holder to fit onto torrie steering column bottom and make an HR top nylon bush the new bottom bearing. This work is to lose the column shift tube which unfortunately houses the bottom bearing in torrie world.
