Re: Another EK Ute on SA Roads
With the Nats not far away thought I’d best give the Ute some attention. Could have started this last July but ………
Off with the bonnet to fix those stoppers/adjusters. Didn’t like the previous repairs so cut them out and welded in some 1.0mm with nuts brazed on the back. A bit of paint should be all good.
Whilst the bonnet is off might do a bit of a tidy up with the engine bay paint.

Re: Another EK Ute on SA Roads
That looks much more betterer Stephen. I will assume you are just showing off casually including the ubiquitous Telstra cable pulling rope in the background and didn’t necessarily use any in the repair.

Clay
My trestle legs are lightweight and with the curve of the bonnet I was worried it might go crash! I didn’t want to paint the bonnet so the old Telstra rope came in very handy

you crazy croweaters
- that's called Parramatta rope not Telstra rope !!!

I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

Re: Another EK Ute on SA Roads
Folks
Door off new seals in. Windows out for new Bailey channel and quarter vent rubbers. Even fixed the quarter vent window lock lever so now you have to use the button to unlock the window.
Note: Must tell daughter who uses window to get into car when Dad has the keys and can’t be found or locked his keys in the car
Question, what do I use to glue the new Bailey channel in with? Contact glue or the magic glue Rares Spares provided for the door seal? (Loctite 406)? Thanks

Re: Another EK Ute on SA Roads
Shouldn't need to glue the bailey channel in. It should be a firm enough fit that it holds itself in place. If not, gently expand the channel to make it wider.

Re: Another EK Ute on SA Roads
Splashed out and fitting new door handles, Bailey channel & rubbers. Chucked on a set of scratch plates but they don’t sit too flush? Wil. Have to have a look at others to see how neat they fit to the door.

Very nice Stephen. Yes they don’t sit flush always in my experience.

Re: Another EK Ute on SA Roads
Picked this up at a market this morning for very little. Hopefully the mirror will swap over to the FB/EK mirror arm. Anyone know what this was originally for? The part no on the arm is 7408242 with 6 on the next line followed by “No 2”.
Thanks

Re: Another EK Ute on SA Roads
The part number 7406907 was later superseded by 7430042. The mirror was offered as the standard interior mirror for EJ+EH Prem Sedans, EH Prem wagons and HD+HR Prem sedans and wagons.
It was also offered as an Accessary glareproof internal mirror for FB, EK and (EJ/EH/HD/HRs not listed above).
7408242 is the FE interior mirror support.
Cheers,
Harv
