Wilma FB project
Re: Wilma FB project
Spent a few days on headlining, windscreens and bits and pieces of interior. Having lots of trouble with rear windscreen, taken it out once to have another go and may well have to take it out again and refit it tomorrow. Top and sides fitting perfectly but bottom is stubbornly 1/4 inch away from sitting properly in the channel. Will have another crack at it tomorrow. Frustrating time all round. Front windscreen is sitting nicely fortunately.

Brett,
It sounds like you need to give Jim the Windscreen Whisperer a call.

Re: Wilma FB project
Got it in this morning
. Aimed the heat lamps at it to warm it up and went to that big hardware place and bought a suction cup thing for glass while it warmed up. Splashed a lot of soapy water in the rubber and channel and it finally seated after about twenty minutes of juggling. Put upwards pressure on it using the suction cup which is a lot more effective and safer than hands pushing on it, and that and lots of tapping with the rubber mallet persuaded it to finally go all the way in.
Will continue to tidy up headlining and put the upholstery on the wheel arches as next jobs.
Today's inane question: Do FB seats have a back angle adjustment normally?

Re: Wilma FB project
Your front seat back rake adjuster is high-quality bush-league equipment.
I'd suggest concealing it when you get the car blue-slipped.

Great effort Brett. Perserverence gets the job done generally.
Wot?? NO! On the seat adjuster. Could be a variation on the lay back picnic seat. They seem pretty agricultural from what I've seen.

Re: Wilma FB project
It seems like a pretty thorough job on the seat adjuster. There is plastic tube on the joining rod and the pawl/ratchet thingmy is well made too. Haven't worked out how the metal corner covers work with it, but that is coming up soon. Have to paint them first. Have a bit of rust work to do on seat too.
I am looking forward to having the seats back in 'cause crawling about on that floor pan is killing my ancient knees

Poking around doing odd jobs. Upholstery around rear arches and rust treatment of front seat runners.

Bottom surrounds need to be cut on an angle to suit laying flat

Re: Wilma FB project
the small hole on the arm attaches to a spring that releases the sliding mechanism so that the seat slides forward as you lay it back
Re: Wilma FB project
Many thanks Patrick. I didn't know about those things. I will post picture of seat surrounds next time I go to shed, but assume(hope) they have been cut for it to have worked.
