Yeah , I was looking through his museum with him a few years back , when we got to the Ardun flatty powered T coupe with no front brakes and rego plates I asked him how the hell he got that licenced and he told me it was a factory fitted V8 - I called him on his obvious bullshit , tour over !!!!
Rod is no longer there hasn't been for years
same with the 55 with the plane engine, i've heard some cracker stories about the rego and how it managed to get "registered"
sometimes yor just better off shitting in yor hands and clapping

yeah he has his own set of rules apparently ........
he still lives in the house next to the factory/workshop , thats where his museum is - he sold the business in the mid nineties.

Made a start on the cable clutch setup tonite, dummied up a pedal box in the donor firewall cut then knocked up a trial bracket out of easy to bend stuff , started getting angles and arcs right to hopefully maximise cable life. made a weld on attachment that will be glued onto the clutch pedal . Pics below ....

Just assuming you will give the bracket a bit more length on the bottom so it can be a bolt in conversion ??

Is there any reason you went cable instead of hydraulic ?

Converted my HX van from rat trap to cable when I installed philipino 5 speed from VH Commodore. Cable failed at the busiest intersection in Adelaide at peak hour with u haul trailer on the back containing all our worldly possessions, cat, dog and father in law. Step brother came to the rescue in his clapped out hg gts 186s monaro.

That firewall cut is a handy piece of kit. Looks to be saving the old body from a few contortions. I used a cable also when I put the 5 speed in the FB I sold to Mad Pete. Can’t remember exactly how I did the pedal end but similar. I’m sure Pete’s given it a good workout. Any more pics of the Tasman revamp. Keep up the good work.

Yeah this bracket is just a bit of scrap that was lying around , once i know itrs all going to fit I will build one out of heavier gauge steel and enclose the sides to seal the firewall. With the booster i am using a hydraulic setup wont fit.

I actually went and measured mad Pete's car up for ideas before starting his one Trev. One of the Tasman centres is cracked, I am waiting on a replacement to turn up from - ironically - Tasmania

I remember one let go on me in a HJ panelvan at a train crossing 400 km from home , got back home easily enough by just switching off and starting in gear whenever i had to stop. Reckon I will carry a spare cable if I ever get this thing back on the road ........

into it ? Been going on for 2 years now ............. :? did a bit more last night, fitted flywheel and bellhousing back up , and buggerised around with fitting a commodore wiper motor to an EK baseplate for underbonnet mounting , nothing worth taking a pic of. Waiting on bits for the 5 speed so I can finish putting that together and get it in the car for good.

Bit more work on the clutch pedal and cable setup , installed the clutch and fork to suss out where the bracket needs to be , modified the pedal with an oxy and a FBH to give it more offset so the cable doesn’t clash with the spring

Stock vs modified, not much in it , about 5mm.

Then I decided to install the gearbox to finalise the gearstick position and modify the gearbox crossmember and I got CRS’d again ImageImageImageImageImage

The friggin spigot bush is 16.5mm and the input shaft is 17mm , ffs can’t they get ANYTHING right ????? I should have checked it before I installed it in hindsight, best to assume with their junk that it will need to be modified in some way or another before installing ImageImageImage

So out it comes ......
