Re: Clay’s Wedgewood Blue FB Ute
Nah, just mud and crap Greg. The hubs and wheels are the best part of the old sixbe.
Expensive tailgate stops. Bought a block of rubber from Clark $25. Cut with Stanley and drilled wi cordless.

Re: Clay’s Wedgewood Blue FB Ute
Plumbing up the heater and inlet manifold. What is it about firewall heater hose grommets?

Re: Clay’s Wedgewood Blue FB Ute
@#$@#$% heater grommets.... took longer to get the grommet to stay put than it did to fit and plumb the rest of the heater.

1/2".
The original grommets are quite hefty. The new Rares ones are flimsy, and the weight of the hoses pulls them out of the firewall regardless of hose size.

Yes 1/2” from the heater through the grommet and on to the tap. Half to 5/8” right angle adapter, which is two fittings, to rear of manifold. Five eighths front of manifold to water pump.
Previously I’ve used 5/8” right through, with very tight clamps on the old heater inlets. Five eighths through the firewall grommet is virtually impossible, and even harder to stop the grommet popping. I seem to recall using an original grommet at some stage too which was chunkier as Harv says, but brittle of course.

Tidying up my best glove box is the easiest option. Folding out of 30# sheet is a nice idea but too lazy. Needed a bit of straightening.

Re: Clay’s Wedgewood Blue FB Ute
Contacted Vintage Wiring and he told me the same as he has every time. “Still a couple of weeks away”. Renewal of lockdown in Melbourne hasn’t helped.
I’ve been trying to round up some stock rims and was hoping to use ones that didn’t have tyres that hold air. One has rusted through by the valve hole, too big to repair efficiently. I will use the ones off the trailer which currently have 175/70/13s, assuming I can get them off. Took a closer look and Greg was right. They are a bit rusty.

Re: Clay’s Wedgewood Blue FB Ute
Clay,
Getting tyres off early Holden rims is easy. My father's trick was to run over the tyre (with the car that is), just missing the rim.
I use a plank of wood under the rim and a 10" G-clamp as close to the tyre bead as I can manage and gently push the tyre off the rim. The G-clamp approach also works with J and JJ rims.

Get the wheels off the trailer I mean Rob. I have a friendly tyre bloke who will swap the tyres around for me thanks. Yes I've done the trick using the car. Another mate has a home made lever contraption works quite well to break the bead.
