You notice all the things I’m banking the authorities won’t. Those springs will be coming out in a while Rob. I will get the rear down two or three inches after rego.

Cheers Dave. Glad you are enjoying my ramblings and hope others may get some value from done of my observations.
This is how the HR Tim's cane up after a soak in citric acid and quick blast with the little karcher. One is quite buckled so found another thanks to friend and absolute Holden nut Ian Bienke from Myponga.
Light surface rust does form almost instantly but will clean off easy.
I almost changed my plans on using the HR Tim's because I was having trouble sourcing one to replace the buckled one, but also because Ian pointed out that they make the hub caps stick out more than the older style rims.

Comparison photos. First HR passenger, no tyre. Second HD HR commercial. Third FE EH. This is due to the shape of the centre, for clearance to the wider drums I suppose, and not rim offset, which slightly counteracts the effect on the HR passenger rims.

The difference is 15mm on the HR passenger and 20mm on HD and HR commercial. I'm still on two minds about this but hey it's only to get rego and I may yet end up fitting the HR brakes.

Can’t bring myself to fit the HR rims. Will look wrong with hubcaps. I’ve got a choice of FE to EH passenger rims or the commercial variant. The only difference is that the commercial rims are riveted. No difference in appearance. Leaning toward the passenger rims as I’m concerned the rivets may leak air like the earlier FJ ones can do. Also a bit heavier.
Now I’ve stripped these HR rims I’ll hit them with Epotec when the weather warms up and stow them away.

While you've got the rims out and clean, can you take a few measurements please? Perhaps back space and front space, axle pad and centre bore.

I'd like to start a thread on how to identify the various old Holden wheels, and give some decent measurements. Some guys have the ability to look at a wheel and know it is Torana etc, and it would be great to capture that somewhere. Good place to store the discussion on the HD/HR disc brake rims too.
Being HR, they should be 4.25" bolt circle diameter and 45º wheel nut tapers. i thought HR rims had 6mm positive offset, but I could be wrong.
Cheers,
