Something to keep in mind for the accommodation. Toowoomba has a large agricultural field day (Farmfest) the Tues, Wed and Thursday prior to the Nationals. If you are planning to come early, make sure you don’t leave the accommodation booking too late. It will get harder to book the closer it gets. If you get stuck you can pitch a tent at my place but we live half an hour out of town and payment is polishing my car...
For those looking to stay at the golf motel your too late - it is fully booked for all accommodations types.
I am trying to secure a B&B cottage not far away that has a couple of spare single beds I wont be using and more importantly for me a driveway for the cruiser and trailer
With speculation as to the Nationals going ahead beginning, this is where we are at at this point in time with regard to the COVID-19 restrictions. We will be informed by the venue for the Show & Shine if we can proceed possibly Monday. We are waiting until we have advice from the other venues as to the status for early June, this changes on a daily basis but we have to wait before making a call. We envisage a decision will be made next week and posted on both this forum and Facebook. We thank you for your patience. Doug Ramsay
Thanks Doug for the update.
I have a similar situation as I have golf tournament to run a Swan Hill, the weekend before the Nationals.
I'm awaiting feedback from the venue before making the call.
Cheers - Roger
There is a right way and a wrong way and then there is my way which is usually the long way.
THE NATIONALS ARE CANCELLED FOR 2020, SEE YOU IN TOOWOOMBA 2021
Here is the message from the Qld Club Nationals Committee
It is with sadness that the QLD FB EK club has taken the difficult decision to cancel the Nationals this year.
The SA club and Roger have graciously allowed the QLD Nationals to push out a year. We will attempt to replicate what we have in place now and transfer to next year.
For those that have paid the entry fee and or the accommodation at the Golf Course Motel, refunds will be available.
We were left with no choice in the end in making this decision. Stay safe and we look forward to seeing you all in sunny QLD next year.
Regards the QLD club and committee
Thought this would be the case , I spoke to Belly from the QLD club on Saturday when he called me to let me know and to see if our club was happy to let the QLD club go next year rather than miss out on their turn
My suggestion was run the 2020 Nats in QLD next year the week before the long weekend in June, then do a supercruise to SA and have the Nats again the following weekend would work for me but probably not for too many others
I started with nothing and still have most of it left.
