Photos of floor pan

Hi all, does anyone have a picture of the floor pan where it joins the back seat front rail? I have to finish off both sides and only have holes to go on!

Not quite as simple. There's a step up, say about 1/4" high, 25 cm forward of the rear wheel arch. There's a spot-welded seam at the rear of the rear seat rail U-section where the rear floor pressing is welded to the rear axle hump pressing. The rear floor pressing finishes in a straight line at right angles to the inner sills, making the U-section into a box section. Where the rear seat rail U-section curves around to the rear, the box section is open. The "step" is a thumb's width (that'd be 3/4") forward of where the rear floor pressing ends (take your cue from the underside of the car where the seat rail is straight). Must be to give a nice flat area for the two pressings to be overlapped and spot-welded.

Thanks Rob. Much appreciated. It's the 'step' bit and how it meets the end of the Rare Spares floor pans that I'm worried about. A picture would be immensely helpful. I found some distance shots on the Old Timer rebuild but not clear enough unfortunately. I guess you can't see it anyway when back seat and floor mat are in place but I'm keen to get it as right as practical.

Hi all,
Another qusstion!
Where the bottom of the dogleg ends and the end of the sill rises up and ends, on some cars I have seen no gap and on others there is a distinct gap between the two pieces. I am asuming there is supposed to be a gap going on the design of the sill end. Can anyone point me to a photo of this? I am thinking that the bottom of the dogleg bends back to mirror the sill top, with a gap about the thickness of a match stick?

Don’t have a photo to hand Brett but yes the sill panel steps up with a hard S about 3/4” just before the guard lip turns out. The seam continues horizontally right through but was filled, I think might have been stick welded aft of the lip apex, say the last 3/4”.

Look to an unmolested front guard if you have one for the way they are terminated is the same, apart from the step. I’ve been quite intimate with front guards lately. It could be lead or brazing like how most of the other seams are filled.

In the factory the pillars, rear quarter and inner and outer sill were first spot welded together along this seam before being tied together with firewall, floor and roof etc.

If you’re not sorted by the weekend I can take some photos of the van which has the outer sills off when I get home from work trip. Just post a reminder on Saturday mate.

Thanks Clay. I think then there is a gap at the front, but inside the whel arch from where the the arch folds inwards, the sill and the guard are joined? Its times like this I wish there was a pristine Fb/EK next door! I'll post a photo of what I'm up to when I clamber out of bed!

The repro pressing looks right so just fab a piece to blend in and leave seam exposed. Fill the bit where it turns in when finishing for paint.

There is also a piece in the back of the dogleg that joins the tub, dogleg and wheel well together.

I will do a photo this afternoon for you.
