Thanks Blacky - it was so good to see so many cars together at one time - you get such amazing inspiration from all those amazing minds that put those cars together - I hope mine looks that good in a few years time - cant thank the good people here enough for their help and encouragement - I still have things to do but looking forward to having it back now so I can finish it my way

Yes for sure - want to be able to jump in and drive whenever i feel like it so yes will go full reg v-soon to get the 61 GREY up and about

Here in NSW we have a classic vehicle scheme, mainly set up for modified but historic vehicles can use it as well.

Costs around $100 and you can drive it 60 times a year when you desire. You do have to be an affiliated club member with the scheme but it saves a lot of money especially if you don't drive it on a daily basis.

Looks fantastic. The wheels are a nice touch in red too. Was the tonneau cover bought off the shelf or made up? I note there is a person selling FB / EK covers on flea bay so curious if it was one of those?

The tonneau is original - was rolled up behind seat when it was dragged from shed - im planning on getting one made up so i can preserve this one though

Ok so not standing still long I’m in the ironing out bugs phase which may take a little while - got this installed yesterday to help and improve storage as well
Also picked up a little hair dryer to add into the mix - getting the help of Fred Radman who has posession of all the Wray Supercharger patterns and drawings
Minus the carb so on the look out for a 2 inch SU or special 3 inch if anyone has one they would sell pls yell out.
On innitial inspection and pull apart it was generally ok but needs some tidy up which I expected BUT what wasnt expected was the shaft is bent at pulley end - its a real kick in the teeth as the rotor is a very early cast one so repairing although possible is expensive and still leaves me with a worn rotor that could let go at any time SO going to get a new Billet one made with new shaft inserted which should give a much more reliable unit - Fred has been following Harvs Norman work with interest so is going down the path Harv took with the crank pulley but machining a groove in the balancer face to better concentrically locate the second pulley which Should work a treat
Going to keep the carb side intake manifold as it is pretty nice and a real peace of period craftsmanship - just need that SU to go with it - can get a 1-3/4 to run for a start no issue but the search continues for a nice big SU to top it off.
Fred has drawings for an original block side intake so hes going to fab that up for me - bought an engine to do the set up on and the bloody thing was stolen from his driveway on sunday which was a kick in the teeth - if anyone has an old grey thats relatively complete and turns over in SA pls let me know
The last piece of the puzzle is the tensioner which Fred has patterns for so we are going to have one cast up which will finish it off as Wray intended.
The carb will sit nicely in between the blower and valve cover towards the back so very close to where the original Stromberg would of sat so choke and linkages should be simple enough.
Not chasing big HP but more the cool factor of having a running reliable unit that is Wray cool

A couple other improvements in the works are doing some development with EZPS who make electronic power steering for mostly Euro cars but are keen to try fit one to early holdens - this could potentially be a huge win if they can work past the gear linkages so thanks to Russell Cooper we are sending a column over for them to tinker with - fingers crossed
The advantage of the EZPS is you dont see it - tucked up under the dash and doesnt need much power at all to give full power steering - Im adding an alternator anyway which looks almost identical to genni to keep the period look but give a more reliable source.

Lastly got my Harrop LSD centre last week to smooth out the rear end - 10 spline so should be an easy swap over in the original Banjo with same gear set

Never a dull moment hey !!
