Hi All,
Can anyone recommend a chroming dude in WA? Not one that will sniff my paint down some seedy ally but one that can make my 60 year old bits shiny again.
Is it worth the full 3 stage re-chrome expense, pro's con's.....?????

Sorry mate cant recommend anyone in WA.
I will say though that chroming is a artform and can be very expensive.
With die cast re chroming a lot of time goes into the copper work as its dipped and polished to rid any imperfections and this can take several copper dips. Once that's done then nickel and then chrome is usually used.
The bumpers if work is needed are hammered, pressed welded etc then sanded smooth, once again triple plated with copper nickel then chrome. Some places will use inferior solutions to keep costs down and many bumpers come back with scratch marks etc in the metal because of the time and cost involved in the prep polishing.
Just as a guide my bumpers cost $1100 each, meaning 3 pieces plus the overiders as well as some small repairs and courier costs.
This also took 5 months to do.
My die cast pieces have been with another chromer for 6 months and as a guide again $1500 for the blinker surrounds, front bar, rear lights, and mirror stalk. I don't have these back yet which has been good because I have had time to save the money.
The chrome does make these cars in my opinion so I have not baulked at the price, it is what it is but for the money I just wanted a good job and lucky for me I got what I wanted.

Jason , Charlie is back at the helm at what used to be Vinci Chrome - now Kustom Chrome in Malaga. He has invested a lot of effort and money into rebuilding the place and is getting excellent results. Highly recommend.
I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

Yep, I wasn't expecting it to be cheap but didn't realise that it would take such a long time. I agree though, the chrome does make the cars. I'm thinking that the expense will potentially offset the value added to the car. Well maybe that's what I can tell the mrs anyway. I'll give the Kustom chrome fella a buzz.

Charlie will have a KUSTOM CHROME stand / display at this years hot rod show at Claremont showgrounds in june
he will have 2 cars on display and be there the whole weekend to talk to customers like yourself
and explain the technique of whats involved
