G`day all , I am getting rid of the 16" Commodore wheels and want to run 15" steelies , what size tyres have you all got and do you have any dramas with them rubbing ? The EK now has 225/50/16 tyres and they rub on the inner guards on the rear when hooning around corners.
I want to run 15x7 rims , and about a 215/60/15 tyre - any one else running this sort of combo ??

I saw this wagon at the nats a few years back - it looks magic with those wheels and that stance.
I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

on our fc sedan (pics below) we run 15 x 8 with a 235 and 60 profile. it doesnt really rub at all, but as you can see, it sits like a 4x4.
i think on an ek, something like 6" rim with a 215 would look good (only roughly guessing) but it all comes down on how low you want your car (i, for one, love cars that are dropped on their guts!!)
My ute (see daily driver EK ute in pics) runs 205/55/15 on 7" rims.Has been lowered about another inch since photos.I had to push inner wheelwell out slightly to stop tyres from rubbing on the outside-even with a load of sand they don't rub now!
I love the look of the wagon in the photo you posted but surely suspension travel would be limited-I have 2" travel to a stock bump rubber.
G,day Blacky, the wheels on the wagon in the picture are 14x8's with 225
on the rear, 99% sure, a bit of muckin around with the correct offset as there is no room to play with. from Trev.

His brothers wagon is just as neet if you can believe that!
I've just started restoring an FB wagon for my wife, she fell in love with there cars at the Nowra nationals 2004. The inspiration is there I just hope I can do a job half as good then I'd be happy.
Blacky, my old wagon - the burnt out one, ran 15 x 6 rims with 215 rubber on them with no rubbing (before I put the chromies back on it). I can't remember if they were 50 or 60 series or what the offset was.
Blacky, If it's a Gasser, I have some headers and Gasser header pipes for a grey motorin' beast. They dump straight out the front wheel arch behind the back of the front wheel. The headers were made at a speed shop at albion(brisbane) in the day. Said speed shop mainly did speed equip for speedway and sprint cars.

From what Ive messed around with , the only way to get the rim sitting in the rear the same as the wagon with standard wheel tubs is to use 6inch wide rims.
To run 7inch rims without rubbing you will need to fit a mini tub to the chassis rail.
To run 8inch rims you need to mini tub to the chassis rail and pump the guards about 3/4 of an inch.
Anything larger then 8inch requires chassis modification.
