Warmaride Heater advice ?

Hi all , The FB which recently came to live at our place has a Warmaride heater under the dash which seemed to be all connected and the fan works Ok.

What's a little odd is that the car has no dash mounted heater control and appears to be on some kind of continuos loop water hose wise with the only control being the heater tap on the engine. Im assuming this means the heater may not be actually working correctly

Curious to know if anyone has seen this done berfore and if any problems could be caused ? Should i just turn the tap off for Summer ?

Thats what I do. I actually have one of the Natra heater taps which can have a cable connected to it and thence to a control alongside the air control on dash. But my cable is r@@ted.

Thanks troy-fb , i have a spare heater and the control gear , just trying to work out if it was worth trying to fit it all.

my car has a fresh air setup an a tap on moter that i shut manualy if i get to hot i think if the tap is on it helps increase water cooling capacity

Hi EK blue - relax everyone...........
I destroyed the heater control apparatus on mine quite a few years ago and now wished I didn't - they are repairable and actually were a primitive form of climate control............
What I originally did was to likewise fit a manual tap at the head of the engine - worked fine but..... well could have been better.
I found a Jayair universal heater control unit which I had to modify to get to work in the correct direction to that of my dash mounted lever - it works fine and gives control from within the cabin.

ps Karsten - the heater unit and plumbing will certainly increase your cooling capacity - never be afraid to make use of it in hot weather if you believe you are about to pop your car's bubble - don't forget to turn the water on fully, open your air vent and if you have a booster fan turn it on full - gets uncomfortably hot in the cabin, but may just save the engine if you are stuck in slow moving traffic and cant' get to the side of the road - just my thoughts
