have searched the forum and was wondering if there is an update if anyone has completed this setup and how they achieved the kick down linkage setup?
photos would be great.
i don't want to change to Trimatic as Hydra is fine.

Paul I've not seen it done on this forum or elsewhere. I used the standard mechanical linkage for my twin SU's. It was pretty painful and I still have some work to go to get it spot on. I cant imagine having to do an added extra for a Hydro!
Are you going to use a cable for the throttle? I would recommend it. The biggest issue with using the standard throttle linkage with twins is trying to get the full amount of travel, added spring tensions (2 x carbies), and throttle sensitivity because the total throttle opening relative to pedal movement is double. You will also loose some travel due to the linkage bar twisting due to extra spring loads but from memory the Hydro EK's had a larger diameter throttle bar because of the extra load of the trans throttle linkage.
Your situation will definitely take some work.

Correct, Craig - larger diameter throttle cross shaft used.
I'm not sure about any larger associated rods though.
It took me a bit of getting my head around your comments on double travel movement and sensitivity... hadn't given that any thought before - I can appreciate how sensitive the two carbies are when cracked from idle - altering the leverage to reduce travel would most certainly result in limiting WOT limit.
I gave the issue some thought and would suggest the manufacture an open disc type of throttle rod control - mounted at 90 degrees to the rotation of the longitudinal throttle shaft. That being which the two/three carbies take their linkage from.
The disc would be cable driven - and would be fitted as an eccentric.
This disc could be fashioned from a handbrake pulley or similar.... but would require the central hole to be filled and an offset one drilled.
In this fashion, there would be extreme sensitivity at the upper end and a much larger throw at the lower end of pedal position.
My little Corona uses something similar.. but is only of a sectional disc arrangement... I'm certain a casual stroll though a wrecker's yard might produce exactly the disc I suggest....
As for the kick-down, I expect some form of lug on the throttle cross-shaft with a fitted thread to connect the transmission rod to could be added.... I don't know how or what rod may be used.. but believe any of the early Holden (well, up to and including Trimatic, prior to electronic controls) could be modified to suit.
I can't say that I'd be interested in ever doing this, but my words might just give suggestion to alternatives not considered.

cheers for the replies once i get the motor back will do a trial fit up out of the car and see if i can adapt the original setup will look at fabricating an arm to mount the original kick down rod .
Rosco i think i have seen a similar disc configuration which consists of 2 wheels inner and outer which you rotate opposite to one another to offset for different settings maybe a holey setup.
