Its amazing how similar those Packards look to Rolls Royce engines with the updraft intake manifold, side mount magneto's, and mechanical drive water pump. I'm assuming some licenced copying or sharing of engine design between companies went on a lot during the war years. Beautiful engines.

Back in about 1984 I once owned a 1932 rolls Royce laundalet phantom 2 . It had a Straight 8. When I bought it, the head was cracked. I am Sure the new head came from Packard in USA ( or
Mexico or Brazil) and it was machined in the UK. My memory isnt the greatest but I do remember it came from packard.

The boat has two rolls meteors. He couldn't get Packards for it.

ah ha Dave. Now I get it. I got fooled by the rocker covers and 6 stacks per engine but the inlet manifold caught my eye from working on meteors in the past.
Lovely boat either way. The tinnitus would have been worth it!
