Installing Engine

Post by OldMan's Lacky »

Hi members! It has a been a long time since I've had to instal an engine so sorry if this is a dumb question. Is it easier to instal with the gearbox/clutch housing already attached/bolted on? Thanks.

I find it easier, as I hate trying to bolt up starter motors and bell housings in situ .

I did that with my red six... having a balance thingo for the engine crane helped, as you could tilt the enging and box in at a sharper angle and the level it as the box goes under the firewall.

I did it just recently. With a long extension bar and universal the top 2 bolts on the bell housing were fine to get to. Personally if just and in and out job I'd do just the engine, but if both are out I'd do both together already bolted up.
