My EK Holden 1962

Post by srussell »

G'day Fella's

This is my 1962 EK Holden, it has been in the family since new and was restored 14 years ago. Sadly, since then the car is seldom driven and unfortunately garaged and gathering dust. I have been living overseas for 10 years and as a result it is only driven twice a year at most by my father when he musters up the energy to drive an old car. The vehicle is at present and appears to be for the foreseeable future, the proverbial 'garage queen'

During the history of the car, it has spent much of its life either on the road or in storage. It was driven from 1962-1974 and then driven infrequently by my uncle from 1974 until 1983. After his death, it was stored until 1986 and then driven from 1986 until 1989. Typically, as per the history of this car it was stored again until restoration in 1998 and then driven for 3 years in the early 2000's. Sadly from 2004 due to work commitments the vehicle is only driven as mentioned once or twice a year from 2004 up until now.

The car is and always has been a Geelong vehicle, still sporting the sales receipts and remnants of the Winter & Taylor sales sticker on the back window.

The interior and running gear is completely original with 117.000 miles on the clock and runs fantastically. Although, the floor mats have typically been replaced due to the original set becoming brittle over time.

Maybe, I am a biased, but I think the color combination is absolutely fantastic when it is out in the streets, which is rarely, much of the feedback from other people is equally complimentary.

I thought it would be nice to share theses images of the vehicle with like minded, early Holden tragic's!

Shane

Wayne,

Here is the ID Place/Compliance Plate from the vehicle.

Can you tell me anything interesting about the car from this?

Also, as the car is fully registered and not being used, how do I go about getting club registration? And what is the annual registration costs under club registration, more or less?

Thanks in advance, if you need any additional information let me know.

Shane

And welcome to the forum ;)
Not all chemicals are bad. Without chemicals such as hydrogen and
oxygen, for example, there would be no way to make water, a vital
ingredient in beer

Thats Guys,

Its a really great old car! Sunny Time, according to paperwork it is Snowcrest White with a Twilight Turquoise Roof, both colors are probally very close.

In accordance with the ID plate, can you tell me anything historical about th vehicle. Do you require any other info about the car. ie: engine/bodynumber?

Great looking EK!

As far as club rego goes, you need to join a club to be eligable for the scheme and you have a choice of 45 or 90 days use. Not sure on exact costs but 90 days is around $110.
Speed and Style........... One day I'll get the speed bit.
