Wanted Driveable Ek/FB sedan or Wagon in QLD
Hi looking for a roadworthy / driveable FB or EK .I'm located in Central Qld. Was looking for a original car but would consider a modified version. Been trawling eBay, gumtree and the like. I was hoping maybe someone here has a lead onto something that is not a total rust bucket, that won't require a full rebuild. My budget is around 8-10k . Is this realistic?
Regards
Matt

Thanks, patience is indeed the key, being in CQ makes it hard to pounce LOL. There has been a few that have interested me or fitted my budget ect, but they always seem to spring up at in opportune times.. But yes I'm sure on will come along.. Have been tempted by a few EH's.. Must resist.Mick Jagger wrote:theres a matt black one at coomera for 6500,barter

Don't rule out EJ's - They are starting to turn heads more than ever and are generally cheaper that EH's (and FB/EK's). The J's are great old cars and convert very easily to RED - throw in an EH front end and bingo !!! My sons doing that right now for his girlfriends sedan - a 149/trimatic sitting on the EH front cross member with plenty of room for a triple bank of little SU's
When I was looking for a good ute it took a while and it came from the Gold Coast so had to rely on very detailed pics and the guys word (lucky on that score)
Wherever you go ask around - there are still plenty of great ones hiding away. Try for no/low rust and a top interior and pay for both as that is where the bulk of the money goes in a resto.

You could check out the FB wagon, at Decepion Bay.

Re: Wanted Driveable Ek/FB sedan or Wagon in QLD
Thanks Finny,
I saw this on FAcebook when I had returned from looking at the RatRod style one at Bribie this morning . Rang the number talked to Rick. But I had to be in town until now and he was leaving for NSW at lunch time. Returning Friday and I'm heading home on Thursday, then I'm back next week and he's returning to work.... To makeit worse I'm in north lakes just next to Deception bay.
So how was it? Would it realistically take much to get it on the road? I don't ideally want to do a bare metal rebuild , if I could get it on the road and do bits and pieces would be ideal.

Hi Matt, I posted the ad for Rick about the wagon for sale at deception bay. There's a couple of holes that need patching underneath and a couple of other minor things then should be able to get it roadworthy. Hope this is helpful. Will probably arrange for rick to leave it at our place at burpengary if it doesn't sell this week. By the way saw your request on the eh pages, theyre pretty hard to find at the moment as well. As a friend has been searching for the last few months.

Re: Wanted Driveable Ek/FB sedan or Wagon in QLD
Was from Ipswich way, was on Gumtree for a long while.
Picked it up yesterday, was told that the guy drove it to the Coast and around a fair bit. My goal was to have something that would cruise 700klm home. Was told no worries,
Picked it up and drove back to where we are staying about 55klms. Made it about 20 when she started missing. Then another 10 when it just stopped a few times. Then on the highway out of bris , she stopped on the motorway. rACQ the rest.
No real impressed, think found a problem with a blocked fuel filter , but makes hard to have confidence to drive it the next 600klms into the bush with no phone reception or help

Re: Wanted Driveable Ek/FB sedan or Wagon in QLD
I reckon I can get my old holdens going when almost anything breaks or fails but that means carrying a fair few spares and a good range of tools when I go away. So the way I look at buying a car from a long way from home. I would have to fly up to pick it up, and take all that stuff as extra baggage, and even then, I wouldn't start the trip home without first flushing the radiator, the fuel tank and changing the oils. I work on my own cars and I wouldn't give myself a guarantee on how far they could go without fail. And then there is the problem with having the spare time to be on the side of the road fixing it. So most of the time, I just pay ceva or ccc the $500.00 and they deliver it to my door. Sound like a wimps way out but amongst other things, I just don't have that time.
