Interior Dome Light

Post by Finny »

Trying to re-create the dome light for the roof.
However I'm missing parts and don't have a guide to what it should look like.
The workshop manual doesn't have the details.

This is what I currently have.

Hi Finny.
The orange wire is a 12 volt feed which is common to the brake lights, and as such has 12 volts all the time, regardless of the ignition. The white wire goes to the clip holding the case of the base of the globe, as well as being connected in parallel with the courtesy switches in the door jambs (also should be white). They complete the circuit for the lamp by grounding the case of the lamp,(The same as when the switch is activated) while the 12 volts is maintained at the tip at this base of the bulb. Sorry I only have one side of the lamp (it's in the car), but as you can see, the base is mounted on insulating material, so as the light can only be grounded, and thus turned on, by applying a ground to the case of the base of the globe.

Thanks for that.
I can probably make something up based on that.
The picture really helped.
I was imagining a totally different bulb, but it makes sense now.
