Thanks for the heads up about the finned sideplate, I've looked at the Aussiespeed ones but wondered about the quality and how well they fit. Its funny how these after market mobs think that their shortcut cheaper versions are as good as what the manufacturer had already spent thousands on developing. Pays to be cautious with this stuff. Reminds me of all those alloy rocker covers for red/blue/black sixes out there with no baffle plate for the PCV valve. I couldn't count how many people I know that have complained about high oil consumption, blowing smoke, then ultimately pinging and running on and the resultant damage from that.
Anyway its now time to get these doors aligned a bit better.
Shitty little breather plate removed and casting cleaned up. New plate made and tig welded in place. Pretty well mimics the original.

If had of known you both were coming I could have used yours and Rusty's cars for the wedding. Would have saved me a heap of work on mine. 
So I'm still running the standard system till later. Another minor tune and brake adjustment done also. Todays mileage check comes up at 26mpg. I'm running a 58 main jet a the moment as the engine is breathing a little better mid range with the ported head. Cam is real nice, still good torque down low, good pull mid range, smooth idle, and no tappet noise! Definitely looking forward to the weber going on and the headers. I hoping with final jetting on the weber I might get close to 30mpg as the current Stromberg is a bit rich on the progression circuit with the larger main jet.
