Hi guys,i have just started to pull down my EK ,looking for suggestions re the hood lining and seats. Is it possible to take out the original lining which is still in good condition and refit after the paint job. The upholstery in the car is original and barely a mark anywhere apart from a small section on the drivers seat where the stitching has come apart without tearing.
I don't know if I should throw it all away or try and keep all original. When I say it's in good condition ,I guess it's faded and dirty but may clean up?

Re: Hood lining and trim
Hi Stevo
Don't throw it away! It's part of the car. The stitching in the seat is repairable.
My original headlining was out of my wagon for about 6 years. I stored it away during the rebuild. When it came time to fit I cleaned it up and then my trimmer backed the outer edges and the bows with calico and it's gone back in beautiful.

Thanks Stewart, you answered my question perfectly. How did you store the old lining can it be folded or rolled? My car is a wagon also. Do you mind if I contact you from time to time if I have any other questions.

Re: Hood lining and trim
I had it draped over a folded up ping pong table
I wouldn't fold it. If you can hang it from somewhere or lay it flat that would be ideal. I thought about laying it the roof space of my garage as there some room up there but decided not too as I also get occassional visitor...mice...
No worries at all. Send me a PM and I'll pass on my mobile.
