QLD Transport approved Seat Belt installers in Brisbane

Post by strogger »

As the Subject says can anyone recommend an installer who can also certify the belt install? (Mod plate.)

Also any indication on costs would be appreciated.

Cheers.

The guys at J&M Mechanicals (also known as Gasoline Alley) in Brendale can do it fully mod plated. All up, work and parts (including plates) it's around the $1000 mark for a full set.
I'm sure there's a heap of other places that could do it though, depending on where you live.

Hi,

Scotts advice sounds pretty right.
I just bought 4 new belts for my FB costing $440.00 just for the belts. I will be fitting the belts myself but if you have to pay someone to do it, the labour bill will soon add up as there is a bit of mucking around to do, unless its had belts fitted to it before.

Thanks for the advice guys.

Malcolm: - how will you go whan time comes for Mod plates? I only ask because i can get a mate to assist with install (Boilermaker.) so structual strength wont be the issue just getting the Mod plate so i can get full QLD rego.

Thanks again.

Just make sure you follow the requirements of this particular mod (as set out in the "book" available from QLD dept of transport), and you should be able to get it plated by a certified engineer when you're finished. Of course, you'll be paying for that...not sure of the cost for plating a seatbelt install though.

If you want to be 100% certain, it's always best to speak to the engineer first and ask him exactly how it has to be done. That way you won't find yourself being told to change or add something in order to satisfy requirements.
It's a pretty simple install, but like any mod, if it doesn't meet the engineer's standards, they won't certify/plate it.

Hey,

I know a bloke in Bris that does the mod plates, he's been in the early holden movement for many years. Before I started on the sedan I called him and told him my plans. He said just build it and he will check it all out when finished. I take a lot of photos of every thing I do on the car ie: modifications, just for reference as to how something is done. As long as you follow guidelines you won't have a problem.
