First 1000 miles
Hi everyone,
Just about to clock up my first 1000 miles on Old Timer with a freshly rebuilt grey.
Am planning on an oil change, check all the fluids and the grease...what else...?

Re: First 1000 miles
Stu,
Think about dumping the coolant and refilling. It will get rid of any bits and pieces (from storage or machining) that are floating around.
Double check with your engine builder whether the head gasket is a mono-torque (bolt it up once, never touch it again) or if it needs re-torqueing.
Spend an hour or so running spanners over the engine bay to make sure nothing has inadvertanly come loose. Put her up on stands and check underneath for the same.
Now she's run in, it's time for a Wednesday night at Eastern Creek
Cheers,
Harv

Hi Stewart,
Mate well done getting the old timer finished, they are big jobs !
I put one of these filters in every car I own and have never had to replace or flush a radiator.

Re: First 1000 miles
What Hav said.
I've done 1880 miles now and dumped all the fluids at 1000 miles.
Checked the dumped oil with a magnet and increased the oil grade
To 25W70 to stop the burning off.
Make sure to check the diff and gearbox are not over full.
Consider using STP to lubricate new engine parts.
I regreased everything at 500 miles and just before the Nats incase something was missed.
Cheers.
