Hi guys,
I'm currently in the process of putting a Vk 202 into my EK, I'm removing all the Efi gear off it and just running a simple carb setup instead. I'm just unsure what I should do radiator wise to keep it cool?
I no longer have the original Ek radiator. Not sure if I should just buy a new FB/EK one (to just bolt in) or get a new Hr radiator and modify the radiator support?
Would love to hear other thoughts and opinions and other options as to what's best.

HK-G is pretty popular swap.
I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

for ease probly as you said HR which is the same as H/KTG L/CJHX UC 6 cylinder but i'd probly shell out for a 3 core or something just to be sure as i've had stock type overheat especially if it's a hotty engine but i've also had a FC with a hot red with a standard size grey radiator and it was fine

Can vouch for the three core! Re-conditioned original couldn't keep up with 179 when I modified mine back in '83.
Radiator specialist made up an XW/XY "special" - and it was worse... don't even think of anything from the blue oval range...
Put up with it for six years until finding someone with an HG 186 standard radiator.... haven't looked back.
Ran the electric thermo fan for many years which kept it up around the 180 deg F mark. Would go to 195 on a hot day in traffic...
Electric thermostat played up in traffic at a critical time, pulled off the street, shorted out the contact and ran it full time.
Got home, ripped off the electric fan and thermo - replaced the EH fan (only one which will fit between the motor and radiator) ... and lived in bliss ever since.
Runs constantly around the 170 deg F mark... might go to 180 deg F towing the boat up a longish hill.... HK/T/G has my vote.... and an EH fan...
As for the baffle plate cut-out.... take plenty of time and don't forget to add in support strips each side for the radiator bolts.

If you want to go crazy (and I'm not quite there yet! but it's coming) - I intend to cut the upper baffle cross-member/hood plate support and open the rise to the width of the HG radiator... it just doesn't look "right" with the radiator hanging out both sides at the top..
Another advantage of fitting the belt driven fan which some people are not aware of, is that if the fan belt goes - even at relatively slow speeds, the fan will still rotate and pump water through the system... a thermo fan with only the pulley on the water pump won't...

Dads is the orig radiator redone 3 core, with thermo fan, ran it to Phillip island kustom nats on the Friday, mini, Trev or Devilrod can vouch for how hot the day was, my temp didn't get over 115

Forgot to mention, 167 deg F (74 deg C) thermostat plus hot water piping through manifold heating jacket.
