Good on ya Jarrod. Most importantly the car looks like it's pretty well complete. Most rust is relatively easily fixed, but parts for these old girls are getting harder to find and expensive, so I reckon you're already in front. Take your time mate to develop a plan of what you want the car to be - and then stick to it. Switching & changing as you go along will cost you money & cause you heartache. Good luck to you mate - you've got the doin's for a great car.

Cheers, Steve 8) 8) 8)

Hey Jarrod.. 8)

Definately worth the money dude, as Steve said everything is pretty much there.. you start buying all the bits and pieces that are usually missing, stainless trim and badges and stuff like that, and you can easily spend that 900 bucks that it cost you.

Don't stress about the rust mate, it'll take A LOT of time and just as much heart ache... but remember its only metal, it can be fixed..!
Save up, do it properly and give it your all.. it can get pretty frustrating at times man i can tell ya, while your mates are all out havin a blast your stuck in the workshop working on your rig.. not that your not enjoying yourself but there are some times you'll wish you didnt miss.. you just gotta keep thinking of the finished product and how cool you'll look cruizin when its done, thats what keeps me going 8)

As far as what route to take with it, be it tuff, cool, custom, restored or something in between, it's your decision! A few factors come into play such as money, laws (dunno if there's any P plate restrictions in SA?), knowledge etc.. but work out what you want and what best suits you and go for it! Just make sure you stick to it what ever it is. Being your first car, im guessin this will be your daily? so what ever you do, make it reliable :)

Best of luck mate...

G'day Jarrod,
Good to see you getting into the old vehicles.
Where abouts in Adelaide are you? I'm in the North-North East region.
I'm a young bloke too, I've got an EK that had lots of structural rust that I've fixed most of so I might be able to help you out in some small way.
Any way you split it, $900 is good buying!
My preference is mild custom, but it's your ride so go for whatever you're into - resto, custom, pro streeter!

Ok guys, I have been working on other cars whilst this FB has been in storage.. I have recenty picked it up ready to get started on it again.. and found large bog crack in Drivers side rear Quater panel, smashed the bog away and there was rust, rust hole in quaterpanel.. on the rear side of the wheel arch.. and it has a fairly large area around it rusted too.. the cars sills are completely rusted, lowr quaters rusted, floors have been sheet metaled with rivets(easy fix I think they didnt cut any larger than the replacement floor pans..and it also has alot of rust in random little places.. Is it too far gone???? should i keep all the parts and scrap the shell? Cheers...

maybe take some more pics of the rust your seeing and post them up
for us to take a look at if the sills are only rusted on the outer and not
the inner sill its a much less work and most of the parts where its rusted
you can buy replacement panels like floor bottom of rear quaters bottom and tops of front gaurds
so depends how good you are on a mig start on all the small pieces of rust and by the time you get to
the big stuff floor sills you will knock it over easy

yeah, the outers are completely gone, the inners are gone slightly at the bottoms..where do you get the outers? I have seen them on rare spares a couple times but they seem to not be on there at the moment.

Alright the cars been sitting at home under carport waiting, have no tools or anything at home, all at workshop. Today I decied to scrape away some bog cracks and discovered some baddddddd rust! and dodgey repairs... drivers side rear quater panel has large rust hole in middle. been in accident, hit around with a hammer and bogged over. Im guessing its been 'repaired' like that for a long time and havnt got around to checking it out. It still seems repairable As there are no major curves etc in the middle... still has good metal around it. Aloo there was some on passanger rear dogleg behind the door. just above where the curve ends was some alloy sheet pop riveted with bogged slapped over. on the lower dogleg was some fly screen rivets and more bog? QUESTION can you get aftermarket rust repair dogleg sections? or will I have to get something made up.. WIll put some pics up today or in the next few.. cheers.
