Bonnet ornament? Anyone have any ideas!

Post by thropzed »

I've had this for a while and don't know what it's from. It seems to be cast from brass and chromed. It has no makers mark or part number it looks have a recess at the back where a chrome strip meets it. It has two securing screws under each wing. Any ideas?????

I thought the wood was just for mounting it on for display :? , is it a part of the car aswell? I wouldn't think so, Trev 8) .

Looks like a stylised effigy of something the Japanese Fishing "Research" Fleet will be chasing soon in our Australian waters.

What is made from and are there securing studs from underside. Is it solid or just Shell pressing(hollow core)

Thanks for all the responses, Firstly the timber is only the mounting board for display. Secondly it is solid brass and weighs about 1.6kg and has two mounting screws under each wing. No makers marks or part numbers and I think we could guess for along time and not come up with the make and model this came off. It is one of a hand ful of talking points on my ornament display bench that doesn't have a name yet but I think it would look pretty neat on a kustom rat jalopy made up from bittsa's.
