Tony,

From what I understand, the EK and EJ 3-speed boxes are two very different boxes, though the bolt pattern between box and engine is identical. EH boxes, though similar in construction to EJ, had a different bolt pattern (5 bolts instead of 4). So I don't think an EK (or EJ) box bolts to the 202 red motor. I could well be wrong though - most of my thinking has been around grey motors.

Cheers,
Harv.

The grey box will bolt up to the red no worries. The only difference in bolting is the starter as the grey gearbox and spacer plate had provision for 3 bolts where as the red starter had 2 bolt mounting. If bolting up the red just use the red spacer plate and starter. I have bolted up both a 186 and 202 red to the greybox in my FB. EJ and EH boxes are essentially the same (split case with side linkages). The 202 red should go straight into a EH and bolt up to either EJ/EH box. As for putting a EK box into an EH you would be up for problems with gear linkages. Also the EK, and I think for that matter the EJ box had no rear mount provision which you would need for the red motor mounting configuration in an EH. Another issue is the clutch slave cylinder as the later EJ/EH were mounted different to the early EK type.

I would stick with the EH box or an EJ box with an EH extension housing fitted.
