Re-trim - help/opinions
Re-trim - help/opinions
Hey guys,
Going about it abit back to front - trim before panel and paint, but will be driving the ek to Perth from Brisbane, shortly and the seats are fairly saggy, so I have them booked in for some loving at the start of August.
I'm going to get the seats re trimmed, aswell as door cards, kick panels, new carpet, parcel shelf. I'm not taking the ek back to original condition, so I don't mind abit of custom in the design, aslong as its clean, classy and simple. I will however be painting the car as per original colours (seaforth green, snowcrest white roof).
The codes I have from previous owners post on here are as follows:
Body- EK225-6580-S
Paint- 585-4588
- 585-0246
Trim- 718-968
Im basically after people's ideas and opinions on what they think would go well with the paint combo, in regards to trim colours, and designs. I'm thinking a full white interior might look abit tacky....don't want to stuff up a big decision.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Re-trim - help/opinions
Seaforth green isn't a very dark colour, so i'd go for a darker green inside with seat inserts in a lighter green or light grey. But then again, I'm not known for my fashion sense
This is a seaforth that's for sale on Carpoint just now. I think the grey looks excellent.

It's probably best to take a sample of seaforth painted metal to an upholsterer specialising in classic cars and see what he suggests from the colours and patterns that are available today. If your glovebox door or ashtray lid is still Seaforth, then they are good pieces to take with you.

Re: Re-trim - help/opinions
Hey mefb,
That interior does look neat, will look at some green/grey combos. Ties in with the dash top being grey too. I'm still undecided wether to do mine all green or with grey ontop.
I've been looking at a lot of photos and I'm starting to like the look of the one colour interiors. I plan on getting some paint mixed so I can make samples, the only spot with original paint that I have found so far is the bottom of the glove box hinge.
If anyone has pics of their re trimmed interiors, or their favourite interiors throw them up. I'll chuck up some Ive saved soon for opinions...
Ohyeah - cam at north coast custom trim will be doing the work. Same guy that did mez's 2door ek.
Cheers.

Re: Re-trim - help/opinions
Timmy's interior.

Re: Re-trim - help/opinions
that is one clean interior, i like the dark green against the lighter green - onto a winner there. thanks for posting that Cal, wouldn't happen to have anymore pics of it, or the whole car?
now to decide weather to change up the design a little, add some pleats, different lines etc. something simular to what ek61 (i think it is) had trimmed up.

Re: Re-trim - help/opinions
I think two or tri-colour interiors are great in the older Holdens, something along the original styling also. If you veer too far away from factory styling you have to get it exactly "right" or it can look like rubbish.
How about black (vinyl or cloth) seat inserts (where your back and bum goes) with a light green vinyl elsewhere and a white piping?

When I first read that I thoughtstinky wrote:How about black (vinyl or cloth) seat inserts (where your back and bum goes) with a light green vinyl elsewhere and a white piping?

But having thought about it, I've completely changed my mind and I definitely have to agree that it would look very, very

Kinda like an old Polly gas pump:

Re: Re-trim - help/opinions
Who ever retrimmed my seats in a past life put cloth inserts on them. It may not win prizes for originality, but the cloth is a hell of a lot more comfortable than vinyl.
Re: Re-trim - help/opinions
stinky - if i do venture away from the standard design it wont be too far or too crazy. just want it to be clean, simple, and classy (how i plan to build every aspect of the car) no crazy flames or tribal designs here haha
i cant really picture that combo you suggested in my head - i think im sold on the darker green, so thats a good spot to start i think. will take that to the trimmer, and throw some ideas around.
cal - i think i will be going vinyl all over - its not a daily driver, and ive had a few vinyl bench seats before and they dont bother me too much sliding all over the shop haha.
