FC in trouble

Post by Blacky »

One of the guys who came over for the FE/C nationals had a bit of trouble with his car , it was running rough then would hardly run at all , I got a phone call on Wednesday arvo asking if I had a spare timing gear and could help out - I grabbed a timing gear set and some tools and went for a look.

Pulled the timing cover off and the gears looked fine , upon closer inspection we found this

The woodruff key was well and truly flogged out , and the snout was undersize from the drive gear flogging around

So I jumped in the ute ,grabbed my car trailer

and towed it back to -

For a heart transplant :D

We got most of the bits and pieces off it on wednesday night , feute from the forum had a spare motor so he bought it down , then Jim came up yesterday and got the old motor out , and I ran around town picking up new bits in between working.
Got into it last night , got the box back on

Motor back in

All the bits back together

... and fired her up , runs like a top :D :D :D :D :D :D

just need to put the bonnet back on and clean up this morning and he is good to go - and a top contender for the hard luck trophy
I started with nothing and still have most of it left.
