For sure! I'll just have to cross out the 'FB' at the very bottom. That banner was hanging up at the Narrandera Nats for the 50th Birthday of the FB.You can reuse that 50th birthday banner in your shed
...and when Old Timer gets registered it will be party time.

We are enjoying following "old timers build", and knowing the story of "old timer" relative to your family it is great that you are using as much as possible of the original car, and you have perservered and not put it in the too hard basket.
We look so forward to seeing "old timer" in Mount Gambier in June.
all the best
Roger and Lesley

Great plan Stewart, better still that you have stuck to it
.
I wish my dad had better taste in cars so I could do what you have done, all I'd be fixing up is an old Austin or VW if I did
.
I hope Thommas and his kids get to enjoy it in the future too.
Another one saved!

Stewart - tears are welling up in my eyes.... OT is coming back to life.....
Dave - boy, am I glad Stewart has you..... I love acrylic - over the top of what you are laying down - there are going to be a lot of people who wished they had done the same.... solid colour acryilics over a sound base..... years of bliss..... leave the final block for a few months - as you well know, it takes quite some time for acrylic to pull down completely.... a half block, cut and finish will be perfect for Mt. G.... get the final one after the paint has been out in the open for a while.... and - KEEP all Silicone polishes/waxes away from it.......
Great work fellas.... this restore will outlive your grand-kids, Stewart.... now, hold old is your eldest..? - statement weight assigned...
frats,
Rosco

Re: Rebuilding of Old Timer (EK wagon)
Many thanks Roger and Lesley, Trev and Rosco. I am really hoping I can get Old Timer finished in time for Mt Gambier. There is still LOTS to do and the weather is against us at the moment. The forecast is rain for 21 of the remaining days of February...

No paint going on this saturday. Its my daughters first birthday.SunnyTim wrote:just mask it Stewart and next Saturday morning you will wake up to a clear blue sky and low humidity. Mix up paint and away you go.
I love acylic too Dave for the same reasons you mentioned, and I can paint it without too many health implications.

Re: Rebuilding of Old Timer (EK wagon)
Time for another update...Dave has been busy with more primer and sanding and I've been busy with more sanding and sanding and sanding...
The one thing I've quickly learnt about this part of the rebuild can only be descirbed as...

and it goes everywhere.
Yep you can tell I'm a newbie at this...
So Dave has finished laying down the polyester primer...

and then we sanded most of it off...

Now we're up to adding a coat of acrylic primer...but I'll leave you with some obligatory sanding shots...and the quote of the day..."Rub till ya fingers burn!"...Dave
