Just thought I'd share a few photos of an FB getting back on the road. This my FB, 'Phoebe' (geddit?) after spending almost eight years in hiding! Shes back on the road and is driven daily around Sydney. Enjoy!
Pretty much still original, just with 50 years of wear. Vacuum wipers can be a bit of a bother going uphill and front seat on drivers side pretty shot, but otherwise I'm slowly trying to get her back in top nick
A tip for the seat if the springs have collapsed, high density foam. My springs are starting to go and I have wedged a block in under the seat till I can get it retrimmed.
Speed and Style........... One day I'll get the speed bit.
I always thought sagged seats would be caused by broken or stretched wires?
Stinky would know i'd say - maybe have new wires put in (or you could do it yourself if you can get the right stuff)
Just an idea.
Great looking FB (early rego plate number too is it?) - whereabouts in sydney are you?

You're right Jimmy. I should have been a bit clearer. When springs stretch or in my case break the seat collapses where ya fat arse goes... The foam block is a quick fix to support stretched broken or sagged springs without pulling the seat out.
If you had the right wire and a bit of determination you could maybe get underneath for a quick tighten up (although i guess with the limited workspace theres the possibility of doing a not-so-great job resulting in a wire poking through the lovely vinyl (like my otherwise immaculate FB front seat

Already done that once, but I pulled the seat out to do it. Wired the springs back together. My guess is they've broken in a different spot...

Sounds like a good idea with the foam. When I originally bought the car, there was a cover on the front bench. As I started to clean up the car I took this off to find a pillow stuffed in the seat!!!!! I've tried to get the seat back into shape by taking the vinyl partially off to make some repairs, and this has both good and bad points.
Good: at least it looks a little more original than before and I did find a sixpence down there!
Bad: I did this in summer; 50 years of bum sweat on a hot day does not smell too good and the little staples were a bitch to open.
Otherwise Phoebe gives me (and others) heaps of fun. I just noticed in the interior photo you can see my remedy to no clock on the dash = a wristwatch on the rearview. Can't remember where I found this tip but I think its a nice touch. (Unlike the fuzzy dice in the last photo).
That's funny, i saw a pink and white fb at the mechanics behind my work having a timing gear done. Looked strangely similar to this one
Saves me putting up photos on the forum to figure out where she's from, you must be local to the hills area mate?
We'll probably see each other cruising around, i'll be the one slowing down traffic with my hydramatic

Could well be! Shes with Tony at BCR Auto in Castle Hill. Was that your EK parked across from the &*#@ dealership? Looked absolutely FAB. just didn't have my camera handy this time but was hoping to put some up as you don't see too many good cars in the Hills!
Sure was mine. Yeah there's rarely anything interesting to look at. There was a cool black 5W &*#@ coupe the other day that i saw though. Can't remember if it was a 28 or a 32 though, didn't get to look at it for long as it was going the other way
