Harko,

I've already done the american thing and to be honest, I've found the FB to be more of a challenge. The FB has been a lot of work but this is how my Mustang started out also, supposed to be just a basic rebuild. I just see things and think, hey that would be good to do. My background, spray painter by trade, having owned a smash repair business for about 13 years. Got out of that and joined the QLD Police.

What model Vintage Air unit did you get for your car??

SMOOTH,

When I did the windows, I set each one up totally with all felts and bits and pieces fitted. I don't like surprises.

I own Aussie cars too

but the car scene is biased towards USA cars , They are bigger smoother ,great lines etc compared to aussie cars that are styled on American cars just cramped up ,well early ones like ours anywayz.
An american car seems to be worth more in $ aswell when built.

All I am saying is I would love to see Malcoms effort put to good use on a Bigger car hehe

Well said Smooth, its just a shame that there are so many narrowminded people who are unaccepting of a similar year oz based product to a yank product. One of my pet peeves with the ASRF. They'll accept a totally stock yank tank, but not a similar year aussie car unless its cut up enough to meet there points for mild custom or more

Malcolm keep up the good work, this will be a car which will attract some interesting comments both good and bad, I'm also sure some major features in mags.

Lets not get into a punch up regarging different countried cars!

For me personally I like all sorts of cars hell I even have a Studebaker!
Believe it or not cause I just like it.
If money and time were no option I would own A Monaro Hq a XY GT a 67 fastback mustang a Bowel a plymouth barracuda a EK of coarse, but the car that I would divorce for would be a 68 RT Dodge charger

Lets face it 1968 and you could have a 440 big block 4 speed with an absolutely stunning looking car. For me the yanks won this year but I think all manufactures had their share of duds and lemons!

Nice progress Mal!! Hope you dont chase cars, and lock up criminals instead, thats whats its all about!!! Seriously though you are doing a top job on the EK. Always look forward to seeing updated pics,

OK back on track again,

Just thought i'd post a few pickies of the A/C fitment so far.

Firstly the unit I used is a Vintage Air Gen-11 Compac. This unit does demist, cooling and heating all in the one unit.

First step, I chopped the crap out of the firewall

Then made up a new section

And welded it in. Now there will be no visible signs of a wiper motor from under the bonnet as i'm using a cable drive set up

Then mounts all made and unit fitted

Had to modify the original demist ducts to suit the flex pipe

The control panel is polished alloy with back lit nobs. This I fitted into the blank where the radio would normally go. To keep in with the polished nobs I polished all the alloy dash trim also.

I've made a section to go under the dash to house the vents and a couple of switches.
In the process of making the consol and glove box. The consol will have the cd player and electric window switches. The glove box has to be modified also as the A/C unit takes up part of that space.
Will post more pickies when the wipers are fitted and everything is dummy fitted in place.
