Wanted FB or EK

Post by carlin83 »

After selling my first car, a beautiful EK many, many years ago.. I have never gone a day without regretting to let her go. After my dad passed away not too long ago it made me remember the good times even more and they day he surprised me with my car as an 18th birthday present! so I've made it my mission that I have to find another 'baby'!! I'm based in Victoria but willing to travel for a good buy. Don't mind some restoration, and given the budget..expected! I would like it as original as possible, and would love if I could get my hands on a wagon. Budget is limited at around 7k. Please call carlin on 0400 227 546 9am-8pm even if some advice on buying within my budget :) Thanks in advance

Hi Carlin,

It's great that you're looking to get back into proper cars

I don't need a crystal ball to predict that there will be a lot of advice coming your way

I guess the first thing I need to say is that unfortunately, in today's market, the brutal truth is that 7K is just enough to buy a you pup that will be off the road more than on whilst you fix it up. You'll possibly (probably) spend more in the long run than buying a good car in the first place.

So, my ever so sage advice is to try and stretch your budget as much as you can and buy a sound car that is known to the forum. There are some guys here that have looked at more FBs & EKs than you and I have had hot meals, and they can certainly help point you in the right direction, but you'll need to approximately(ish) double your budget (depending on what you want).

Keep to your budget of $7k, you will find something, just have to play the waiting game!!
I got my wagon for $8k, yes it needs a few things done but is original!
wanker????
I'd rather consider myself as an "owner operator"!!

As Bumper said, if you are patient you will find something reasonable for around the money you are willing to spend. It will need some work, but you can still buy a driveable and presentable FB or EK for 10 grand or there abouts.

A good guide is to go through the cars for sale section and see what prices cars are getting, though for whatever reason they delete these after 3 months now :?

yes as one that has seen many, 7k will get you a car and a reasonable driver at that, but be prepaired to wate and it will have some issues don't expect an imaculate car, if you want a good one that doesn't need touching expect to pay 10 up
also what are you after completely stock, slightly modified or full on modified :ewink:

There's a wagon on ebay at the moment for 7.5 - 8K. Needs some work but is registered and running.
