Indicators

Post by fbvan »

I have a question regarding indicators. My van has had an aftermarket type added that I want to remove.
What has to be done to the parking light unit to convert it to light / indicator?
Do I need a different fitting or can mine be converted?
Any help appreciated. Maybe someone has the part if one is needed.

Regards

Gday Brian

Have a good look at the wiring diagram either in a manual or the one on here.

It shows a White wire for the parker,
and a Dark Blue for the indicator.
Fit a stock duel filliment bulb holder (from a wreck FB/EK)
and connect the wires in as pictured.

Or, Transfer the wires from the aftermarket blinker to the bulb holder in the stock location.

Wiring is not that hard if you concentrate on one wire at a time.
On these old holdens, everything is powered by one wire,
and the component is earthed to the body to complete the curcuit

Cheers
Jeff

Thanks for your help. That's what I needed to someone to tell me. Simple it seems but wiring is always a struggle for me.

Just need the dual filament fitting now.
Anyone got a set? Happy to pay for them and postage to Qld.

Gday Brian

Do you mean it's the dual filament bulb HOLDER that you're after?

If so, they're easy to get new (Autobarn, etc) Narva part no. 49838BL (well, these suit FC; it's a pretty safe bet FB/EK are the same...)

Thanks Jack

How is it in Port Fairy at present pretty cold I would think. I lived in Warrnambool for ten years until coming north for a little warmer weather. You have some cold winter winds down there.
Will try the new option.
