Well guys,

I've been watching everyone else going foward with their masterpieces and decided its my time to work on the old girl again.

Cleaned the garage up so I could find the car again, funny enough after I uncovered it it still wasn't completed.

Pulled the motor out again and started the steering. I will finish all the front now before the motor goes back in. I still need to finish the extractors. Will keep the photos coming.

Good to see some more progress

Its fun on that drivers side of the engine eh , pretty tight trying to get everything in there , exhaust ,steering , mounts etc

Well guys,
Once again months have flown past so its time to pull the finger out again, I've been doing this build for 5 years :shock: :shock:
I have decided to keep the Rust repairs as original as possible :evil: :evil: :evil: so that includes where the Torana front end sits. The camber adjustment will take place at the lower wishbones with eccentric bushes, but I have still allowed for the upper wishbone shims just incase I need to race this thing on a circuit, now that would be interesting :shock: :shock:
I have cut the rail so the new piece is in one plane and not just notched.

I reworked the inner hidden rail so it sits approx 20mm inward to the original position

New 2mm thick angle shaped and welded in.

This has taken me ages and is quite a lot of work but like I said should look the goods and will not interfere with the original look, well hope so anyway.

That looks good Greg , amazing how much time can get soaked up in the little bits .

Where did you find the eccentric bushes ? I seen them in really old copy of Street machine , but the company that was selling them no longer exists or have changed their phone number and everyone down here looks at me like I am made when I ask for them .

Cant find them on the net either .

MR Rusty,

The bushes are listed on the Whiteline website and are part number W52491.

I don't have them yet but they are priced at about $300.00. If you buy the last ones I will be on a plane to reclaim them !!!!!!!!

$300 :shock: Will have a look , if your coming down bring some sand paper with you :lol: .

Was thinking of cutting and extending top wishbone to allow for it but engineer has passed everything and will be a pain to get through now , these will fix the problem with a lot less hassle

Made up some sway bar brackets because the bar is on the front in the original EK position. The Torana location is just to hard with the extractors i am still yet to complete.

Done some today, repaired the geometry of the front end, looks like I ended up with a flogged Torrie but all is good again. :evil: :evil: :evil:
Spent a few hours heating cooling and heating again eventually got the front control arm supports back to where god intended.

Not much room left with the guards so a lip removal and pump will be required.

I admire this kind of engineering. Getting the geometry right would not be easy. If I was to ever build a modified EK I would be tempted to save up for one of those you beaut new prefrabricated front ends that you can drop straight in.

I ordered the front bushes on Friday , you must of beat me ? they have none in stock , but have more coming in

I know! I very seriously considered it but,$4000.00 price tag with no brakes or a sway bar mount so close to $5000.00 all up swayed my decision.

Mr Rusty I got the last 4 on Friday morning, they are a good piece of work can't wait to try some settings with the caster camber etc. :D :D :D

Geeze Im at the point of no return with this subframe, probably would have been quicker to find a better one !!!!!!

Cut out the front end pieces and replaced them, they were bent and the threads stripped out.

Also cut out the bodged battery repair that I done years ago, I can weld better these days.

Passenger side now ready for the Torana treatment.
