G'day All,
Does anyone have pictures they could post up of original jacks and all the bits and pieces that are associated?
One for vans and utes and another for sedans and wagons. I'm currently sourcing the final pieces for my ute and
this is one area that I have nothing sorted.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Re: Original Car Jacks
all honesty i have no idea if this is the jack, came with the car and a small tool bag. its missing the wind up part has a square nut on the end to turn it, realised when taking the photo's im missing that part or its in the shed somewhere. The most valuable tool the old guy left me was that door handle/ windowinder remover..

Thanks SecondOwner,
I think the ratchet is for the jack, hopefully other forum members can set us straight. Now I know what type of jack I'm after.
Thanks.

FBTim,
If you get a chance, take a look at the FE/FC forum and search for jacks. They have had quite a few discussions on whats original and whats not, with photos.
Cheers,
Harv

Re: Original Car Jacks
You are right on the money with that style jack (for sedans and wagons at least). The reversible ratchet handle though, may be out of an old school hex drive socket set. The jacks we have both have square drive ratchet handles that go straight on the jack spindle and are painted the same colour as the jacks.
If you see a jack in good nick you will note on the sticker attached an FB (from memory) pictured on it showing how it is to be used.
A word of warning which applies to all jacks but especially the scissor types - NEVER have any part of your body near the 'drop' zone as the vehicles can be pretty rickety when in a fully raised position. I prefer to just get the wheel clear when using one. I've only been to one job to raise a car off a person following a jack mishap and the poor guy concerned wasn't going tap dancing any time soon!
Cheers,
Dave Mac

Re: Original Car Jacks
Thanks Harv and Dave Mac,
I just want to have the correct jack for the cars I have, not for use to carry out any mechanical work.
I,ll check out the FE Fc site.
Thanks,
Tim
