1. can you install this yourself or do you need a aircon guy to do it... if
so can you post some installation pic's/ notes...
2. is there anything added in the engine bay for this unit...
3. is this the same one as malcom is using in his...
4. where are you going to put the vents...
5. where does the stedge go now...
6. can you take a photo of if you were sitting in the passenger &
driver seat, so i can see if its visable at all if any...

Sorry Matty for slow response, but to answer you questions...
1 You should be able to mount it all yourself, and with your electrician skills wire it up, but you will need someone to make up the gas lines and gas it up
2 I think there is a photo of the compressor on the first page of this thread. It mounts using a bracket of a blue/commodore engine. This bracket also mounts the altenator higher than original. To make it all fit i had to trim and weld the butt joint of the front chassi rail and slightly mod the bracket. Im only using the single fan belt which seems fine, but if it starts slipping may have to rig up a second belt. You will also need the condensor, which looks like a radiator and mounts in front of the radiator. I got mine out of a 1999/2000 magna and was made for it. you will need a couple of thermo fans in front as well.

4 We only had it gased up last week, and currently just open the glove-box for cold air , but will be mounting some demister/thin vents under the dash
5 Mate four kids in the car.. not much chance of hearing any tunes, but will probably mount one in the orig spot or under the dash
6 Will get around to some photos but as is.. working(no vents opening up the glove box for air) there is nothing visable at all from front seats
For anyone thinking of putting one in i think its worth it . this system works well, although you feel it cutting on and off with a stock 161
It cost around $700.00 plus a couple of cartons for a mate to do the lines and gasing. I would probably allow $1000-$1500 if you use new parts (condenser, compressor, fans etc) and have to get the work done for you

AC has worked out very well. The only drama was a short-out at the switch due to my dodgy wireing

I sort of wish the old girl would let us down so i could give her some TLC. The boss has moaned the power-steering violin lately, so i will have to convince her a heart transplant is needed to run the AC and power steering
Is Erin back on the road ?

Finally got around to rebuilding and fitting twin su setup i bought from a forum member a couple of years ago. A bit a messing around tunning/syncing them by ear, but worth the effort, as mid range feels heaps stronger, helping the old girl cope when the air-con kicks in.
