Horn not working - EJ
G'day all.
got a bit of a problem with my horn in the EJ. hope some one can help? its not working...
Tested the actual horns & they definitely work. So I think its a wiring problem???
As u can c in pix, the wire just slid out of hole, should this be attached to something? in the manual, its the only thing thats not covered? if it should be attached & to what/where & how???
hope some one can help

Sam - pop the wheel off and short out from the brass ring to the steering shaft - if the horn works then you have a problem at the wheel end.
If it doesnt work then start looking at your wiring. There should be power at the horn and the wire that runs to the brass ring is the earth wire.

I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

Great, thanks a million blacky.. appreciate the response.
but??? what do u mean by "short out from the brass ring to the steering shaft" is that just a matter of earthing it to metal???
that wire that runs from the horn contacts, how does it attached to ring? it just slid out, is it supposed to clip into???
thanks again

yep , just stick a screwdriver on the brass ring and touch it to the steering shaft , the pin that slid out of your wheel is meant to be like that , it makes contact with the brass ring behind it .

Re: Horn not working - EJ
ok so i tried to remove steering wheel off.... Not much luck. Went to buy a steering wheel puller as the manual suggests, but the guy at Repo, funnly enough talked me out of it, said its reall reasy n u dont need it. followed his instructions on tapping it with my hand all around the ratious, but no luck..
So is there any little tricks??? to make things worse, On close inspection (see pix) steering wheel had a lot of crack, if Im pushing & pulling to with force from my hands, whats the chance of breaking the steering wheel????? & if u break it is it still possible to remove????

Get a steering wheel puller - they cost bugger all and last forever.
I made mine on a minesite when I had nothing to do one day - took about an hour from memory..........

Steering wheel wont break Sam, they have are based on a steel frame.
Speed and Style........... One day I'll get the speed bit.
Re: Horn not working - EJ
Sam , if you arent going to use a puller, wind the nut up until its flush with the end of the shaft , jam your knees up under the wheel and push up with your legs then hit the shaft using a brass or copper drift and a lump hammer. This usually will get them off.

I actually broke a puller trying to get a steering wheel off a Centura years back. Finally got the wheel off, but cracked the nut in doing so
