New to the Forum

Post by stevenm »

HI All, my name is Steve and I'm new to the forum so i figured i should introduce myself :D

I just recently purchased the EK that was for sale at the Toowoomba Swap and am now into getting the old gal ready for rego. The front end is pretty well all stripped and I'm just waiting for a couple parts to arrive and i'll be piecing it back togeather so i can get onto the rear end and lastly the rust before we send it off to get teh seats retrimmed.
Apart from old holdens my main hobby is hotrodds and am currently am am hotrodding a 1939 Mercury and a 1922 Studebaker. We also own a restored 1937 Chev that we love to get around in as well. To make thing really busy my wife is renovating a 1950's van to tow behind our toys.

So we are looking forward to the new adventures to be had in teh EK and hopefully meeting some of the guys n gals on eth forum in the future.

Thanks for the welcome guys. :)
As for the toys the collection has kinda gotten out of hand lately  Plan is to drive the EK as my daily driver so once the EK is regoed we will sell one of our modern cars as they are both now sitting out on the footpath.......

Yeah it's only a standard. As for the colour to be honest i can't say... i love the colour too 8) If were and FX or FJ i could tell you anything off the ID plates but i haven't learnt the later models ID plate lingo yet apart from the standard/special ID numbers. If anybody can offer some insight the trim code is 539-L012 and Paint 585-0245, be nice to know what the old girl was originally.
The plan for the EK is to just "cool" it up a bit and have some fun....

Anyway thanks again guys.

I saw the EK at Toowoomba. It looks like it'll come together with a bit of elbow grease.
Is your '39 Merc the one that was for sale at the Jimboomba Swap last year? If so it was a very nice old thing, I own the 52 Customline that was parked beside it.
Yeah i'm hoping so, but we all know how these things go  Fitted a new brake master cylinder last week and I'm rebuilding the f/e now, ordered a set of shockies and wheel cylinders off Pedders on Wednesday so hopefully they will be here on Moday. Then it will be onto the rust and interior.

As for the merc i brought it off a gent at Tweed Heads in Sept/Oct. Its a really neat car actually, has a few small bits of rust here and there but nothing major at all. If i wasn't rodding it i could have quite easily tidied up a few bit n' pieces and got rego as it was. Its now pulled apart ready for me to fit the RodTech Front end, southern chassis works rear 4 bars, 400 chev and T700 box. Since the flooding etc we've been at Grantham over the last few weeks helping with the flood cleanup at a mates place so the Merc is currently sitting in the shed waiting for me to get back to it.... well now it has to wait till after the EK is going as we'd love to tow our vintage van behind the EK to Bribie Island at Easter 8) 8)
