Buying an Engine

Post by MBH222 »

Hi all,

Time and funding has come for some engine work.

Im looking to take the original running grey out and store it, then the plan is to get a grey from a EJ to warm up as Ive been told the greys from the EJ had a few better things inside them and are a bit stronger.

As I need to buy a motor from someone how do I go about the legal side (NSW) of having a different motor with different numbers in the car? Is a REVS check needed cause I could be inadvertently buying a stolen motor (on paper) and spending lots of $$ on rebuilding it to be told by the RTA that it belongs to Mr Smith.

Any lessons learnt regarding buying an engine would be helpful. My car is registered and will remain registered so I will not need the hassle of a blue slip.

Also, if anyone has or knows of a decent EJ motor for sale in and around Sydney Im in the market for one as all the ones Ive found so far are in Vic or Qld.

Thanks, :D

Check the numbers with your rego place, they will tell you if it's stolen or not. Then get receipt off the person you buy it off.
