Hi could anyone please tell me if the chev 265 v8 is the same dimentions as a 350? block size etc.
Any info would be much appreciated thanks. (new laws, i cant go over 4.5 liters in vic).
If anyone with a chev conversion in an ek sedan would know the curb weight after intsall, that would be great!
Rick

Re: chev 265
Hi Greg
I tried calling vic roads with no help after an hour waiting
. they told me to talk to engineer. couldn't find the right answers on the net, (too much crap to sort through). All i know is it goes by the curb weight of the car to the size of engine allowed. So i need the find out from someone with a v8 in to find how much they weigh so i can calculate the engine size i can have. Hope im making sense.
Rick.

G,day Rick
It goes on the factory weight of the vehicle not the modified weight .
Vehicles 1100kg +, Normally aspirated is original mass (kg)x 5 = max capacity in cc , so whats an EK, FB 1150kg odd , (don't quote me on the weight, check it out yourself) 1150kg x5= 5750cc max
But you need to talk to your engineer , there is a heap of stuff you are going to have to upgrade to get it passed with that size engine .

Re: chev 265
Correct wieght of a EK is 1120 kgs, Rusty is correct with the calculation according to federal guidelines. Victoria I thought uses these guidelines.
The 265 is close to the 350 but has no side engine mounts or oil filter ( this is scratchy as I have not seen one in years ).
Check the laws first and see if you can find out some official documentation before choosing a motor.
NSW is in hot debate at the moment and Im a very concerened about the new laws they are proposing, I am 2/3 of the way through my build and if the laws change I am screwed.
Labor government is just plain communism.

Hi Rusty.
Thanks a lot for the link, fantastic easy to understand
. Bummer on the original weight factor even for wagons..... have to refer to sedans weight???
Guess I'll just have to go 327 chev. If going by this web site the ek's are 1128kg = 5.64 litres ............miss it by 22 kg's
Thanks again Rusty

Re: chev 265
Yeh! you would think a few bricks in the boot would do it
.......tried telling my engineer that, but he said no
ha ha..
Re: chev 265
I recon the weight should be taken with the new engine installed!
