205 13" White Walls

Post by FBeing »

I am trying to find 205/60/13 white walls (widest band possible)
It seems that the widest you can get is 185...

Is this correct?
Does anyone know if I can get anything wider than that?
If so where?

Any tip offs would be great

Hey Stu,

If you go 14s, you can get BF Goodrich 225/70/14 tyres with a 2 & 3/4 inch wide whitewall. I'm getting a set of four Coker Tire 195/75/14 tyres with the 2 & 1/4 inch wide whitewalls for my Tasmans.

If you go 15s you can get up to 3 inch wide whitewalls. But being in NSW, the regs are that you can only increase wheel diameter by one inch over stock (if I remember correctly). So you are stuck with 14s.

Oh yeah, try to get your whitewalls direct from the US if you can. The Aussie distributor has one hell of a markup from what I have heard.

Hope Mollie and Rach are well.

The thin whitewalls have a full white band underneath. The same bloke that paints the whitewall on can grinde the black rubber off.
Im going down this path this week as my rego is up and Im over cross ply's.

Hey Stu,

Vic & Henry are well thanks mate. So where did you end up buying? Eastern 'burbs? I feel a housewarming coming on...

You can take your custom rims to a wheel place and they can check the offset (Neales Wheels in Strathfield did this for me). I've heard the offset you need is HR disc brake, but I am not sure on that. Best speak to the experts.

Cheers,

Andrew

Hey Matt can you flick me the contact details of the tyre guy?
How much does he charge?
Does it void insurance?
Also what tyres are you using and where you getting them?

Sorry mate loads of questions.
I'm still undecided as to what way to go, your way seems to be the cheapest

I'd be a bit worried about the legality of grinding the sidewalls

HR disc. Thanks Trev
I must admit I didn't think steelies would be that expensive
Surely not so long ago they were everywhere and cheap as chips?

I've also got shortened axles and wider track up front
I'll be off to the wheel guys in the coming weeks.
