I was talking to a bloke from "Head works" Neerum rd in Murrumbeena (I have a card in my truck, I'll get it monday), he used to race grey motored cars and has lots of experience with them. worth a try.

Head works, 408 Neerim rd Murrumbeena, 0395685226 or 0410514356.

Tony, he hasn't given me a price on doing a grey sorry.
I recon you have done well with what you have payed, I had my head done (not by this bloke) light hone, red motor valves, hardened seats, all new valves and springs etc and it cost me $915. Rest of my motor recoed and balanced but not assembled $1600.

I had my grey rebuilt about two years ago. The guy quoted me "about $2500" and when I got the invoice it was for $6100. After a bit of argy bargy, we settled on $4200. If they're going to replace or fix anything (as part of the rebuild) make sure they clear it with you before they actually do it. Once it's in the engine, they don't want to take it out again. What hurt the most was having to tell my wife that the rebuild was going to cost a lot more than what I had originally told her!!!
