carby problems help!

Post by nate_138 »

hey all having problems with the carby on a 202 just a single standard. It was running a little rough so i have run a new carby kit cleaned it all and put it back together reset the float level to 5/8 runs fine on idle but keeps running dry.

Every time i take it for a drive it gets maybe 1k and the bowl is empty. Have tried another needle and a couple of little things checked the filter adjusted mixture a few times but nothing seems to be working. Any ideas?? cheers

pump seems to be flowing fine bowl is always full is there anyway the float in the carby can die? and if so a way to check its faulty? It works fine on idle had the can see fuel coming into the bowl but when i drive it and give it some it dies and bowl is empty

Yeah I have had the top off and all was working fine but when I put it back together and drove it ran dry after about a km. Might try another fuel pump.

Before I put a kit through the carby it didn't miss a beat which is odd.

You said that the pump was working fine b4, personally i would give the lines a good blow out with an air gun , check that they are seated well and not sucking in air, i have had the brass fitting that holds the seat have a split in it once took forever to figure it out , and have had to use more than one needle & seat as i have found even new ones can be faulty, you can try putting the car up on stands start it and chuck it in gear so you can at least have a look under the bonnet to see if any thing is obvious while you hold it under a constant rev to simulate driving under a bit of load, if that fails, id remove the pump and check the pump arm that goes into the crank case it could be worn, b4 you kit it see if you can borrow one hope this helps, sunny tim miht be able to eloborate a bit more "Guru "

ps chock front wheels either side just in case you knock the car off its stands
