Re: dont bring fruit
I've always been intruiged about the fruit flys, and the signs you see at the Vic border telling you to throw out fruit.
so do they have a sign at the Narrandera border telling the flies they can't come into the town too?

That always crossed my mind, that the Bins are placed on the border, so what is the difference.................There Flys for goodness sake, its not as though there is a newk zone, and all the buggers will be terminated.

It may be different going interstate, but
when travelling from Adelaide to the riverland in SA,
fruit can be taken if it is in the original supermarket packaging only.

Re: dont bring fruit
Hi,
From my understanding- no fruit no exceptions.Being a long weekend the inspectors could be out in force. They wont even allow locals returning home from being outside the zone breifly with fruit even if it was purchased within the zone.
Fruit fly found in the area has the potential of crippling export sales of local fruit. There is a huge continual cost of baiting and monitoring of fruit fly to maintain our export status.Normally flys found in the area have come from careless visitors who do not realise the situation by bringing in fruit.
