NSW convoy to Narrandera

Post by parisian62 »

At the NSW Club meeting on Tuesday night convoy plans were discussed.

For those leaving on the Friday the plan is to meet at 9.30am at the Mobil Truck Stop Pheasants Nest (Hume Highway) for a departure time of 10am.

Anyone in our around Sydney is welcome to meet up with us at Pheasants Nest.

Driving time from Sydney to Narrandera is about 6-7 hours with a 1/2 hour lunch.

From Sydney there are 3 ways to Narrandera (all tried and tested thanks to the Kirko's):

1. Get onto the Hume Highway and take the Burley Griffin Way extit to the right (about 12-13ks past Yass). Travel through Harden/Murrumburrah-Wallendbeen-Cootamundra-Junee-Coolamon-Ganmain to Narrandera. A fairly good road and a bit more to see. There are some repair patches in the road but manageable.

2. Get onto Hume Highway down to Gundagai and take the Nangus-Junee exit to take you out through Junee-Coolamon-Ganmain to Narrandera, very similar distance but road is not as good for older vehicles.

3. Follow Hume Highway past Gundagai and take the Sturt Highway through Wagga Wagga and straight out to Narrandera. Highway conditions.

Most Club members are going Option 1.

See you "on the road"...and hopefully not pulled up beside it... :)

:D
I am hoping to get out of Newy no later than 6.. 6.30am Friday morning..
Depending on the rolling roadblock they call the cumberland highway i should be down the M2 /M7 and well on my way past Pheasants Nest by 10.00am. Will stick my nose in at the servo and fuel up.. say G'Day if anyone is about.
As i am towing a caravan, i will keep rolling so i dont hold anyone up when i turn onto Option 1. 8)

Catch some of you at Lake Talbot Caravan Park for happy Hour later in the day.... or will smile and wave if ya come past me

just a tip,
if your buying fuel at Yass, come into town and get it. Its on average about 8c per litre cheaper than at the Caltex Roadhouse, Plus its a nice quick break off the ugly boring Hume Highway.
I can also offer my Workshop and tools for anyone if they are suffering any dramas by that stage.

Look forward to driving up on the Saturday for a look.

Cheers

Hey guys do you know a rough time you will be in Junee, we might join your convoy. I also offer my workshop and equipment if
needed, so let me know. Stev I think you still have my mobile number, can you ring me from Cootamundra for an ETA in Junee.
Also what travelling speed do you normally sit on ??

Safe travels everyone.

Peter,

If this is any help....I'm in my stock FB and I sit on 60-65mph and last year to Bendigo struggled to keep up with them.
