I'M PUTTING IN A RED MOTOR AND TRIMATIC BOX.I HAD A HYDRAMATIC SELECTOR IN THE CAR. TO CHANGE IT SOMEONE TOLD ME TO GET AN "HQ" GEAR SELECTOR AND ATTACH IT TO MY ORIGINAL STEERING COLUMN,WHICH I GOT. THE PROBLEM IS THE LEVER THAT COMES OUT OF THE STEERING WHEEL DOESN'T SEEM TO LOCK INTO THE HQ GATE. IT SEEMS TOO WIDE. SHOULD I FILE IT DOWN OR FILE THE GATE?

i've read the previous thread and it's helpful but it still doesn't answer the question about how to make the ek lever mesh with the hq selector gate.

I have used a powerglide gate on mine and it works fine, same pattern as trimatic less the 3rd gear
