Narrandera Nationals Update #2

Post by parisian62 »

The 21st FB EK Holden Nationals – Well this is the BIG one we have been waiting for!!! Celebrating 50 years of the FB Holden!!!

To be held at Narrandera on the Queen’s Birthday long weekend Fri 11, Sat 12, Sun 13 June 2010.

It is being hosted by the NSW Club and it will be a Nationals not to be missed. So why Narrandera? We tried very hard to find a location that met everyone’s needs - especially one that was 'central' for most people. A number of places were considered but in the end Narrandera came up trumps.

• It is reasonably ‘central’ to most States and in striking distance from most major capital cities. Narrandera is 856ks from Adelaide, 435ks from Melbourne, 1,246ks from Brisbane and 550ks from Sydney. Sorry to the guys in Darwin and Perth...we did consider Alice Springs...albeit briefly!

• Narrandera is intersected by two major highways the Newell Highway running North-South and the Sturt Highway running East-West.

• It has plenty of accommodation. There are 9 motels, 2 caravan parks and various hotels and B&Bs located in town.

• It has a venue that has the capacity to cater for over 200 people for both the Saturday and Sunday dinners.

• It has well laid out parkland to accommodate plenty of FB EKs for the Show n Shine.

Entry forms and other information are to be mailed out during January and posted up on the FB EK Forum.

We do hope to see you at the Narrandera Nationals 2010.

Normally we average about 60-70 FB EKs at the Nats. Can we break the 100 mark - I hope so!

Please keep adding your names to Steve's post here http://www.fbekholden.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=9224

Can't wait Stewart :D , I'm pretty sure there were 80 or more at cold old Bendigo this year, so we should be able to nudge the 100 mark for the FB's birthday in a warmer climate  , best of luck to the organizers, Trev 8) .

Thanks Trev. Yep as you know from experience organising a Nationals is a mammoth task but we all do it for the FB EKs and we do it for our mates.

If you have never been to a Nats then Narrandera 2010 would be a great one to start with.

So what about it people? Can we hit 100?

Thanks Roger and Lesley. Looking forward to catching up with you guys. I met and chatted to the Swaffers last year at Bendigo - they had a FB? Good to hear a 1st timer newbie is coming along too. 8)

Thanks Stewart. Yes Brian and Monica have a fb. They are very good friends of ours and so too are the "newbies" Mike and Sue who will be in a recently purchased ek wagon. They originally own and still do a monaro, but we have converted them!!! These families have come on board at the nationals after we have told them how much fun they are, also the chance to expand friendships.
looking very much forward to catching up with everyone in June
regards
