186S IDENTIFICATION

Post by FCOV6 »

I have a 186 i took out of a HR that i robbed for parts some years ago, i always belived it to be a 186S motor as it has a HP block . I'm looking to sell it shortly along with a celica 5spd conversion but i would like to confirm what the engine is so i dont unkowingly sell a fake. Can someone lead me to where i can reference the numbers so i can confirm this.

no such thing as a 186HP motor, if it's marked HP on the block then it's a 179 or a 308 but i think you'de pick if it were a 308
it could be a 179 bored out to 186 could also go out to 186+60, so to basically answer yor original question no it's not a 186 S, i think they are identified by an S in the engine No

Thanks, i wasnt sure it was a 186 but its definately a HP block - at least now i know what it is so i can sell it in good faith.

that's one of my lies when i've done an external destroke on a HP block and can't be bothered grinding HP off the block if you ssee a 149 look at the casting it's neaar the same as a gray motor 3 welsch plugz etc

The way to tell the 186S headers from the X2 headers is the auto choke hole that goes through the 186S and not the X2, Trev 8) .
