Pretty sure that grey EK ute was owned by Simon Davidson. He's a photographer for Street Machine.

He sold it and bought a really nice car, an XM Falcon coupe. :)

Good tip. Wish I knew about that 20 years ago when I rolled (bashed) my rear guards to fit 235/60 Yokies. They would still scrub and the built up rubber held moisture and it ended up rusting out the arch on the driver's side. :(

is that you Boris?

Yeah, not trying to hide or anything.

The difficulty about the Peter Elliot feature is that it could have been quite easy to write it as the Paul Kelly story, but it's not. That's the point I'm trying to get across. I'm well aware of the work that Paul put into that car ...

Eventually she wants air-conditioning in it  I pointed to the quarter windows and got hit.

Women!

Don't they know the quarter-window is the greatest invention ever?

Open the quarter-window, crack open the side window and you've got infinitely adjustable air ...

Very cool story. You can a lot of US custom influences in that car, way ahead of what most Aussie guys were doing with their early Holdens in the 80s and 90s.

J - that roof scoop was a feature on '58 Chevy Impalas and became quite a common custom touch in the late-50s. That (I dare say) is the ...

Yeah, it's the same old story. You can't keep all of the people happy all of the time.

The dumb thing is, whether you're a hot rodder, street machiner or 'ricer', you're basically the same animal, i.e. you like cars and you want to modify them and change them to suit your own tastes. It's just the ...

There used to be an Australian Street Machine Federation (if memory serves me correctly) but I don't think they could ever get organised enough to form a true national body.

How that's done exactly, I wouldn't have a clue. I guess the obvious start would be to see what the ASRF has done.

what i was saying you didn't seem to get the credit you deserved

Writing a feature story and making sure everyone is happy is a very fine balancing act. Of course, the main person that needs to be happy is the owner.

There are cases where the owner of the car has not always been very forthcoming ...

Brootal, same thought has crossed my mind re: building a rod. '37 sloper would be nice, but who is going to look after our future if we push our aussie metal and heritage to one side, because its all too hard!
Don't worry, that was tongue in cheek. :)

I agree, the Aussie stuff is just as cool as ...
