'Unique' is certainly one word for them, not sure its the word I would use though, mines a bit more explicit.
Annoying thing is the 2 manuals I have cover so many things, but both don't have a bloody picture of the spring installed.
My gut tells me to go with the spring coils facing the housing ...

Re: 1963 EJ Clutch questiion
Did a bit more looking tonight, and re-read EJVince's post, and noticed his gearbox had the spring the other way around as per the below pic from his thread.

Re: 1963 EJ Clutch questiion
Thanks for the replies and info, much appreciated.
I contacted Power Brakes and they can do it for A$130 pp and $9 for the piston.
I am going to send it away next week.
Thanks again, been doing my head in trying to order one!
Cheers

Re: 1963 EJ Clutch questiion
Heya, I am having some issues getting the correct slave clutch cylinder for the EJ. I ordered one as below, but the mounts are off.
I was wondering if anyone knows of a place to get the original cylinder? There are a few on ebay, but they are almost $400.
I am also thinking of using the cylinder as ...

Re: 1963 EJ Clutch questiion
Aweomse., thanks again, just what I wanted to hear. The whole mechanism does seem to be working right on the limit with not much tolerance. If they just made the fork sit further back in its home position, it would have given the fork alot more travel before moving the spring around. Live and learn ...

Re: 1963 EJ Clutch questiion
Honestly, thanks to all the replies, it has actually been a big help, as I came in here not sure that I even had the right parts in the clutch. I will do a test fit, set tolerances, and then see how much travel I have.
Thanks again all, and I will update the thread once I have more news just ...

Re: 1963 EJ Clutch questiion
Heya,
Yes, possibly, I will actually fit the gearbox this weekend and set the gap, not sure how much this will change things though. I will do that and get back to you.
I did move it back to where it was when I took it out, the nut is just loose and brought forward, so gives the impression of it ...

Re: 1963 EJ Clutch questiion
The actual issue is not the spring jumpting out of its holder on the "mouse trap" side, but the level pushing on the coils pivoting the spring around as soon as the lever moves. I took a slow motion video and screen shotted some frames to show the action below. You can see how little the front of ...

Re: 1963 EJ Clutch questiion
Thanks Rob
All my testing has been done purely on the bench just looking at the action as the lever is pushed forward.
By the sounds of it, all the right pieces are there, the spring is correctly orientated, so I will just go ahead and assemble it and see how it performs once I have everything ...

Re: 1963 EJ Clutch questiion
The main issue i have is the position from where the lever sits on the clutch slave cylinder and where the spring pops out is about 3mm. I can't imagine that is enough travel to engage the clutch, but getting the car not running and complete I am not sure if its normal or not.
There are some ...

Re: 1963 EJ Clutch questiion
Ok Heres a set up from an Eeee Haitch.
Looks like its right, check your throw out bearing is correct and your ball is adjusted correctly, thats all i can offer.
Greg
Thanks for the reply and pics Greg, so I assume once you put your slave cylinder in, it is also pushes the lever forward so it ...

Re: 1963 EJ Clutch questiion
Heya Blacky,
I do not think it can be 180 deg out, as there is a ball that the other side pivots on, that is pressed into the fork, so it can only rerally go on one way. I could somehow be overthinking the whole thing, and it will just work if I put it together, but something tells me it is wrong ...
